Recently, I was nominated for the “Liebster Award”. And although I don’t do things even remotely reminding me of
chain letters, I made an exception as the blogosphere is very dear to me, and I think this cause is worth promoting!
♡ This award exists only on the internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers.
♡ It has German origins – the word “liebster” has several definitions: dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, welcome, sweetheart and boyfriend (really?)
♡ It follows similar principles as a chain letter, in the sense that it should be passed forward to a certain number of people.
Thanks Marc for the nomination! Marc is a very dedicated food blogger and master baker and renowned for his baked goods. Check out his blog “Bake To The Roots” for many delicious recipes and more trending topics on food. My favorite recipe of his has got to be “Blueberry Lemon Bars”! They are heavy in texture yet so fluffy and divine in taste!
Below you find the 11 questions he asked me to answer for him…let’s do this!
When did you start blogging and why?
During my two years of maternity leave (yes, you heard me! In Germany you can get away with it;-)), I started to wonder what the future had in store for me, other than being a loving mom to little Grace.
While I browsed the web almost daily for all things baby, I discovered the most adorable items. But it sure didn’t stop there. Also, I love to interior design places and spaces (people love the look and feel of our apartment and I always took it as a compliment). So I started giving friends advice on interior design, fabrics, lighting, furniture, fixtures, everything.
Also during that period I started baking. I really began to love it and soon enough I placed an order worth a few hundred Euros for appliances, gadgets…the works. I started taking orders for wedding and birthday cakes, cupcakes, macarons. However, when I returned to work I had to stop doing that due to time constraint.
I got myself a Pinterest Account and was literally obsessed! I couldn’t stop pinning DIY ideas. I wanted to try them all! Another obsession began and I soon started rummaging through craft stores to stock up on cardboard, stencils, masking tape and ribbons.
So I thought to myself, why not blog about all the things that I create, design, bake
Why did you name your blog “AllThingsPrettyyy”?
That name came to me right when I decided on a wordpress template for my blog. I didn’t even have to think about it twice! I simply like all things pretty My family is so beautiful and the biggest inspiration to do all those pretty little things
Can you remember your first post and how much effort you put into it?
Yes, I remember like it was yesterday. Very short and sweet post, as I was just inspired and wanted to get the word out. Didn’t even think about my audience. I was being pretty selfish and just wanted the post to be online and visible for the world to see. Pretty classic rookie mistake
Do you use Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and other Social Media channels? If so, what do you treasure most about their services?
I use all of them very frequently; mostly however, Pinterest and Instagram as those channels are so full of creative people, input and inspo that the options are sheer endless. Even choosing the right filter for an instagram pic sometimes needs some careful consideration. I love how people are willing to share their art and crafts with others and inspire them to do great things.
Have you ever met up with fellow bloggers?
No, I haven’t! Would love to though, maybe get together on a regular basis, get inspired, share ideas and meet great people along the way. Who’s in?
Is there any particular topic that is very important to you, and if so what is it?
In general, all shades of pink are a huge deal to me. Whether I choose peonies as a center piece for my dining table, a party theme for my adorable daughter, a pair of pants (or shoes respectively), buying a KitchenAid…
Also, trending kid’s interior and clothing. I like to make the world just a little bit more cute, colorful, fun and inspiring for our precious little ones. Creating such a fun, loving environment for my daughter and for our family is one of my top priorities!
Which one of your blog posts is your personal favorite?
It’s probably the one I wrote about the 25hours hotel in Hamburg. It was a very personal and emotional post for me and it had the best reach and feedback from my followers.
What’s your favorite kitchen appliance/utensil?
Hands down my fuchsia colored KitchenAid. Baking has never been so easy! As for utensils, I really love the Danish brand Rice. I use their utensils exclusively! Their spatulas? Love, love, love!
Besides blogging, what other hobbies do you have that are worth mentioning?
Shopping for the most part (mostly for my daughter…it’s an obsession I can’t control. Thanks hubby for letting me do my thing!), DIY projects, outdoor activities with my daughter (horseback riding in particular…her not me ;-)), traveling.
Are you a Cat Lady or Dog Lover and why?
Definitely a Cat Lady! I love those cute little fur balls. So does my 4 year old daughter, so we’ve been having the talk and it seems we’re going to get her a cat in the very near future. I’m thinking bengal kitten. ♡
Where would you like to vacation next?
One of my favorite destinations is Lake Como in Italy. We already booked next year’s summer vacay there.
Stockholm is my big love and I like going there during winter, especially. I haven’t been to New York for a couple of years now, so I’d love to do that sometime soon and revisit my old stomping grounds. And last but not least, pretty cliché but the Maldives I have to go see some day! Just chillaxing all day in our water villa boasting a private pool watching the sunset, a butler to serve up cocktails and provide the latest edition of US Vogue…hello paradise!
